My cousin and I really don't know anything about buying a good digital camera. My cousin needs one and she said she's willing to pay up to $300 for a camera. She wants one that has a rechargeable battery. If you have any good suggestions about what digital camera to purchase please let me know your opinion and where could we find it brand new with a good value.

Best Answer: The samsung cameras are really good. I had one which was digimax S500 and I took really good pictures, but I took it to Mexico on a mission trip and it got wet so it stopped working. I bought the latest version which was the digimax S630 in green, but the screen broke. I have an HP camera now and I dont really like it, my mom has a digimax S630 in silver and Im always taking it. They are like $100 but they take 2 AA batts, I have the energizer rechargable though. But for like $150 I think they have some that have the recharable battery. I really like those cameras, I've had plenty of cameras and that one has great quality, you can also choose the option when taking a pic that it flashes twice so you cant blink. I took pictures last year at prom a couple months before it got wet in Mexico and I got them printed out at Costco and they looked great. I really love those cameras, I hope I can get the screen on my green one fixed before I go on my trip to Sydney this July.

- If you go to your local Wall-Mart they usually have a good selection there for reasonable prices! You'll be able to see and try out all the cameras before making your decision which is always nice. My favorite brand is Kodak, and I got my 12mp 5optical zoom at Wall-Mart for $250, and saw recently the price dropped to $200! Sony is also a well liked, reliable brand. The main things to look for is your mega-pixels (more is better), I wouldn't get under 7, and optical zoom (3 is avg. more is better). The rest will depend on what your doing with the camera, if your taking action shoots, you'll want to make sure the lag time is very low so you can capture right when you want. If you want to take it everywhere you'll want a compact camera that can fit easily into a purse or pocket. There are also many colors to choose from if you want, selection has never been better, and prices have never been so low, have fun picking out and using your new camera! Hope this info helps!

- Kodak or HP makes good cameras. You can buy rechargeable batteries for any camera and Wal-Mart has some good ones too.

- It's mostly going to be up to you. what is your primary type of photos you will be taking. if you prefer a small size body, I would choose Nikon cool pix... larger body, I would go with either Kodak easy share or Canon's power shot...all three of these cameras are around $220 - $230. Great sales at circuit city. Just looked before answering you.
Good luck...and enjoy
You forgot to add she needs it waterproof?
thats funny....this brings you to a whole new ballpark.
I also added a link to cnet's site....it's really a great place to get reviews. So I did find a good brand name, and you can take it from there.
Again, good luck and have fun!

- Depends what you take pictures of the most!!!
I like lots of zoom.
I also like steady shot, that helps a lot.
Disposable AA batteries are nice because if you're at the beach all day and your rechargeable battery goes dead you can't take any more pictures.
